The victim was taken to St. Vincent’s hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shoplifting spree

Police arrested three men and a woman from New Jersey on Wed., June 10 and charged them with shoplifting from eight clothing boutiques including Max Studio, 426 W. Broadway between Spring and Prince Sts. and Anthropologie, 375 W. Broadway near Broome St. in Soho and shops on the Upper East Side.

The suspects walked into the shops with plastic bags lined with aluminum foil, which obstructs surveillance devices, stuffed the bags with merchandize and walked out, police said. They went from store to store in a car, according to police.

The suspects are Marjorie Cedeño, 43; Armondo Astudillo, 41, Freddy Ornaza, 28, and Robert Sandoval, 27. In addition to the Max Studio and Anthropolgie in Soho, they were accused of stealing from Gap, Arden B, Bolton’s, BCBG, and Chico’s on the Upper East Side.

Witnesses called police who arrested Lanclos near the scene. He was being held pending a July 29 court appearance.

Stuyvesant sex abuse

A former Stuyvesant High School librarian was charged on Thurs., June 11, with sexually abusing and harassing boys in the school from September 2004 through February of last year.

R. Christopher Asch, 56, was also advisor of the Battery Park City school’s quiz bowl team, the cricket team and the Republican Club until he was reassigned to a teacher detention center after the city’s Special Investigator’s office issued a report in May of last year substantiating claims by four male students.

Asch pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last week.

The Daily News and the Post identified the suspect as member of the North American Man Boy Love Association.

He is charged with inappropriately touching the boys on several occasions until last February when four students told school authorities that he grabbed one boy’s leg and massaged it.

Richard J. Condon, the special investigator for the city school system, said Asch was separately charged with taking seven students on an unauthorized trip to Harvard to participate in a quiz bowl competition. Stuyvesant officials did not approve the trip and the parents of one student who went on the trip made a complaint.

Asch began working in the city school system in 1989 and began at Stuyvesant in 1992. The Department of Education is “seeking his termination,” said Margie Feinberg, a D.O.E. spokesperson.

Asch’s attorney did not return a call for comment.
