Crepes shop robbers
Two men entered Vive Les Crepes on Spring Street near Mulberry Street around 11:30 p.m. Mon., April 26, when one of them shouted, “I’ll shoot you,” and demanded money, police said. Neither displayed a gun but they made off with $1,600 in a black minivan with tinted windows that had been parked nearby.
Missing woman found
Helen Lam, 24, reported missing from her home at 265 Cherry St. after she failed to return from the Sarah Pender School, 200 Varick St. at King Street on the afternoon of Wed., April 27, was found in good health on Sun., May 1, police said.
Holland Tunnel chase
Port Authority police shot at the driver and another man in a white Cherokee Jeep that tried to run down one of the officers at the entrance to the Manhattan-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel around 6 p.m. Fri., April 29. The driver gunned his engine when asked to pull over for a traffic violation, rear-ended another car, then backed into one officer and dragged another several feet before being stopped and arrested. The two suspects, Jahaad Sanders, 19, and Lorenzo Dease, 24, both of Brooklyn, were fleeing from a Jersey City pharmacy they had just robbed, according to reports. Several bags of heroin found in the vicinity were believed to be discarded by the suspects, according to a Daily News item.
Stolen credit card
Police arrested Joseph Acevedo, 26, at 5:50 p.m. on Thurs., April 28, after an employee at J & R Music, 23 Park Row, discovered that the suspect was trying to use a stolen credit card to buy an $1,800 MacBook computer.
Cellphones
A woman who got on a southbound A train at 207th Street around midnight on Mon., May 2, woke up at Canal Street and discovered that her jacket pocket had been cut and her cellphone stolen, police said.
Four youths grabbed the cellphone of a woman on the northeast corner of Stone and Whitehall Streets around 10 p.m. Thurs., April 28, police said. The victim, 24, refused to let go and was punched in the face during the struggle. Police soon arrested the four suspects, ages 14 to 16.
A Brooklyn youth, 16, was walking in front of 65 Broadway between Rector Street and Exchange Place at 11:45 a.m., Sun., May 1, when a stranger stopped him and said, “Give me your cellphone or I’ll pop you,” police said. When the victim did not surrender his phone, the robber pulled him closer, made the demand again, but fled empty-handed, police said.
Two thieves came up behind a woman, 25, on the northeast corner of Broadway and Park Row at 8:30 p.m., Thurs., April 28, grabbed her cellphone and fled west to the PATH station, police said.
A woman who was about to make a cellphone call while on the southwest corner of Broadway and Reade Street, at 8:30 p.m., Wed., April 27 had the phone grabbed from her hand by an unknown thief, police said.
Wallet gone
A woman who was using an ATM machine in the management office of 80 Broad St. at 3:08 p.m., Fri., April 29, put her wallet on the counter near the machine and discovered it had been stolen by the time she finished withdrawing her money, police said.
Was he surprised?
A Bronx man parked his 2007 white Dodge Caravan at the curb in front of 133 John St. near Water Street at 1 p.m., Thurs., April 28, left the key in the ignition and discovered 15 minutes later that the car had been stolen.
