Careless thief A man entered a building at 308 E. Sixth St. shortly after midnight Tues., June 8, and knocked on several doors before picking a lock and entering an apartment, police said.
A Ninth Precinct plainclothes officer saw the suspect emerge from the building with a laundry bag over his shoulder and stopped him when a passport fell out of the bag. Mark Perlov, of New Rochelle, was charged with second-degree burglary, possession of stolen property — including an e-book reader, a camera and a laptop computer — and possession of burglary tools. Perlov was in jail pending a June 30 court appearance, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Boutique burglary Police arrested Lynwood Murphy, 48, shortly after 2:30 a.m. Fri., June 11, and charged him with entering the John Varvatos boutique, at 122 Spring St. near Greene St., and walking out with three jackets. Police were alerted when the suspect tripped an alarm in the shop and apprehended him as he was fleeing the location. Murphy, of Brooklyn, was charged with third-degree burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
E. 12th St. DOA Police were called to 415 E. 12th St. around 10:45 a.m. Tues., June 8, where they found a man described as white, about age 52, lying on the sidewalk unconscious. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the Medical Examiner’s Office was investigating the cause of death. A spokesperson for the Medical Examiner said they don’t know the man’s name.
Where there’s smoke… Police arrested a man and a woman at 2:35 a.m. Sat., June 12, in front of 34 Grove St. for openly smoking marijuana in public. The man, Isaac Adams, 28, was also charged with possession of 10 decks of heroin with intent to sell the drug, police said. His companion, Emily Fladeby, was charged with possession of marijuana.
Christopher stab A Washington Heights man, 23, was stabbed on his left side just below the rib cage in the Hudson River Park at Christopher St. at 12:15 a.m. Sun., June 13. The victim, who was taken to Bellevue Hospital, told police that a black transgender male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 160 pounds, with short straight blond hair, stabbed him during an argument.
Arch muggers A visitor from Florida, 23, was walking through Washington Square Park around 1:30 a.m. Sat., June 12, when two strangers stopped him at Fifth Ave. and Washington Square North, near the arch, police said. The pair first asked the out-of-towner if he needed anything; then one of them said he had a gun and demanded money, police said. The victim gave the suspects $40 and they fled. One of the robbers, described as a black man about age 28, 5 feet 9 inches tall and160 pounds, simulated a gun under his white jersey. One of the numbers on the back of the jersey was 0. The other suspect was described as a bald white Hispanic man about 28 with a sizeable mole on his right cheek.
