Baruch Houses homicide

A Baruch Houses resident was shot to death at 11:30 p.m. Sun. June 26 in front of 90 Columbia St. on the west side of the Baruch complex, police said. The victim, identified as Carlos Rosario, 29, a resident of 555 FDR Dr. on the east side of the Baruch Houses, has an arrest record for assault and narcotics, according to law enforcement sources. An unknown suspect shot him once in the chest on Sunday night and he was declared dead on arrival at Beth Israel Hospital, police said. The case is under investigation and no arrest has been made yet, police said.

Rape attempt

Police are seeking a man who beat and attempted to rape a woman at about 5:30 p.m. Mon. June 27 in a laundry room of a residential complex in the Grand St. neighborhood. The suspect, whose image was recorded by a surveillance camera, fled when a witness came on the scene.

The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s with a red cast on his right forearm, 5’10” tall, 200 lbs., wearing a white tank top, baggy shorts, black and white sneakers. Police are asking anyone with information to phone 1-800-577-TIPS
