A floating ramp is seen south of the Ed Koch Bridge on Roosevelt Island (East Side), Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2105, a key component of the Cornell Tech construction project, where trucks arriving to the site by barge greatly reduce truck traffic on the island. Development of the first phase of the campus is currently underway and due to open in 2017. A tour of the project included views of steel and other materials rising for each building as part of phase one, The Bloomberg Center, named in honor of Emma and Georgina Bloomberg, The Bridge (center), where companies will locate on campus, and a residential building (left) for faculty, staff and students, which will be the first Passive House residential high-rise in the world.
