At Grand Central Terminal last Wednesday, 75 protesters marked the eighth anniversary of the start of the war in Afghanistan. Carrying signs and banners reading “Quagmire,” “End the War” and “Where is the Change?” they marched around the information booth for two hours, sometimes chanting, “Hey Obama, end the war now.” Two men dropped banners from a stairway reading, “Afghanistan” and “Enough.” Police removed the banners, and arrested one of the men, Ed Hedemann, of Brooklyn. He was carried off in handcuffs and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Another demonstrator was also arrested for disorderly conduct.
