The day after President Bush called for sending a surge of 21,500 more U.S. troops to Iraq, numerous protests were held nationwide to criticize the plan. In Times Square Thursday night, several hundred people — including Elizabeth Oram, above, who works in Chelsea — gathered on the traffic island by the Armed Forces Recruiting Station to decry the plan.
