Around 6 p.m. Saturday evening, police received a report of shots fired on E. 14th St. near Avenue B. Within minutes, Ninth Precinct officers stopped a red minivan traveling south on Avenue A between Ninth and 10th Sts. A male and female were removed from the vehicle and, after a witness made a positive identification, the male was arrested and handcuffed, left. Police were seen removing a BlackBerry-type mobile phone from the minivan. The woman, right, was questioned by police while she held a newborn kitten that had been in a box in the van’s rear seat. The officers even let her feed the kitten milk from a bottle. After further investigation, the woman was also handcuffed. She was allowed to pass the kitten to someone else, and the pair were then taken to the Ninth Precinct.
