Lines went around the block last Thursday for the opening of the Topshop/Topman North American flagship store in Soho at Broadway and Broome St., and A-list celebrities including Kate Moss, right, who went to the preview the night before arm in arm with Sir Philip Green, Topshop’s owner. The British clothing store is popular with the younger set but was not welcomed by everyone. “I’ve never seen such dumb decadence,” Carl Rosenstein, a Soho gallery owner and political activist, said as he watched the line from his window. “I wish you could get 100 people to protest the war in Iraq…. It summarizes the complete demise of Soho as a cultural center.”
