The Abingdon Square Alliance will conduct a day of tulip planting and park cleanup at Abingdon Sq. Park at the intersection of Greenwich St. and Eighth Ave. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat. Oct. 15 as part of “It’s My Park Day,” sponsored by the Partnership for Parks and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
The alliance will plant more than 1,000 tulip bulbs under the direction of Susan Sipos, the alliance horticulturalist. The alliance is a neighborhood organization dedicated to helping to keep the park a restful green oasis, said Lee Zimmerman, a founder of the alliance with Chris Garvin.
