The Department of Sanitation mega-garage project, at Spring and Washington Sts., is well underway. Much of its steel superstructure seems to already be in place, leading many onlookers to wonder if it will be opening soon. However, there’s still plenty of work left to do on the supersized Sanitation hub. According to department spokesperson Kathy Dawkins, the anticipated construction completion date is spring 2014. The new facility will serve the trucks from three Sanitation districts — 1, 2 and 5 — which cover Community Boards 1, 2 and 5.
