Town hall meeting on former El Bohio

A town hall meeting sponsored by City Councilmember Margarita Lopez on the future use of the old P.S. 64/former CHARAS/El Bohio building at 605 E. Ninth St. will be held Tues., Oct. 12, at P.S. 34, E. 12th St. and Avenue D, from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The building is owned by a private developer, Gregg Singer, and has a deed restriction for use as a community-use facility. Singer plans to build a 23-story university dormitory on the site. The East Village Community Coalition is trying to get the existing building landmarked.
