Students at St. Joseph’s School in Greenwich Village are raising money to help the recovery in countries devastated by the recent tsunami. They have had a bake sale and are also collecting donations on the corner of Sixth Ave. and Washington Pl., at one point, collecting $300 there in just a half hour. Jo Ann Costanzo, St. Joseph’s basketball coach and an after-school staff program member, expects contributions to increase even more with the students’ plan to start giving out elastic commemorative bracelets to donors. They will fundraise for at least another month. The money will go to the American Red Cross and Catholic Charities.
