The Jewish New Year of trees Tu B’Shvat is a great time to study the Jewish relationship with nature. Families are invited to attend an afternoon of songs, stories and craft activities relating to the trees of Battery Park City and the ecosystems & habitats of the Hudson River. Sun., Feb. 4. “Songs of the River” with the Hudson River Sloop Singers from 12-12:45pm. Family Tree Workshop from 12:45-1:30pm. $10 adults, $7 students, seniors & museum members.

The Three Little Pigs A musical comedy starring Pat, Patterson and Patty, three skinny pigs who discover that through working together they can overcome anything, even Bad, the big bad singing wolf who wants to eat them. Films for Kids View “Vnoksetv/Greedy,” A clay animation by Muscogee Creek school children that tells a traditional Creek story. “Tales of Wesakechak: The First Spring Flood,” In the time before people were on Turtle Island (North America), the Creator put the trickster Wesakechak on earth to take care of all creatures. When he is tricked by the jealous spirit Machias, his friends come to help. Also “Dab Iyiyuu: First Steps,” A Cree community in northern Ontario observes the traditional celebration of the “first steps” of its very young children. The documentary contains an enactment of a traditional Cree tale about a father’s treachery and a mother’s love, and the heroism of their son. Thru Feb. 4, Daily at 10:30 & 11:45am. Storybook Readings & Workshop Come for readings from “Why the Possum’s Tail is Bare and Other North American Indian Nature Tales,” collected by James E. Connolly; “The Loon’s Necklace and Misho,” written and illustrated by James Mishibinijima; and “Bears Make Rock Soup,” stories by Lise Erdrich. Beads for Peace Iroquois beader Sam Thomas and Kenyan beader Munuve Mutisya connect Native American and African cultures in this hands-on beading workshop. Mr. Mutisya will teach African beadwork techniques which will be used to decorate Iroquois horn rattles made by Sam Thomas. Thurs., Feb. 15 at 4pm. Education Classroom, 2nd floor. Children’s Concert Lisa Karrer & David Simons present an interactive afternoon of music making and instrument building for kids in pre-school through 5th grades. Body Buildings Come make a skyline with your body. Learn about the different shapes of skyscrapers and then use poster-paper and your silhouette to make your very own building. Sat., Jan. 27 from 10:30–11:45am. Ages 2 and up.

Push/Pull Learn about the physics of skyscrapers through interactive experiments and demonstrations. Try fun push-pull balancing acts with new friends and make a toothpick and marshmallow skyscraper skeleton. Sat., Feb. 3 from 10:30—11:45am. Ages 6 and up.

Free Friday The museum offers a free evening of arts and cultural programming on the third Friday of every month. This month, Fri., Jan. 19 from 5-9pm, the theme is Maritime Craft & Skill. Underground Adventure What is an artifact? What does an archaeologist do? What can objects tell us about our past? Licedei Clown Theater The world famous Clown Theater Licedei from St. Petersburg, Russia continues its global tour with a NYC premiere. The characters include a baby whose dolls are always missing their heads, a father who’s a bit tipsy, teenagers with sibling rivalry and an always-expectant mother.
