A Bronx man died of his injuries after he was hit by two cars while trying to cross the street just blocks away from his home.

Police say that at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26, the NYPD responded to a 911 call regarding vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck near the intersection of Pelham Parkway and Wallace Avenue. Upon their arrival, they found 39-year-old Baleriano Mondragon Trinidad, who was unconscious and being treated by EMS.

A preliminary investigation found that Mondragon Trinidad was crossing Pelham Parkway outside of the crosswalk when a 17-year-old driver behind the wheel of a 2012 Infiniti when he struck Mondragon Trinidad. Mondragon Trinidad was then hit by another unidentified car, which fled the scene.

Mondragon Trinidad was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead.
