In need of left-handed reinforcements for their bullpen, the New York Mets acquired Bryan Hudson from the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old southpaw owns a 2.83 ERA over three seasons with the Dodgers, Brewers, and White Sox, though the bulk of that solid stat line comes from the 2024 campaign with Milwaukee. In 43 appearances (61.2 innings) that season, Hudson posted a 1.73 ERA with 62 strikeouts.

He posted a 4.80 ERA in 16 games last season. The White Sox claimed him off waivers from the Brewers in August. He was then designated for assignment on Feb. 4.

Hudson provides a left-handed insurance option for the Mets’ core of relievers if AJ Minter has to start the 2026 season on the injured list after he underwent lat surgery in the spring of 2025.

In a corresponding move, Reed Garrett was placed on the 60-day injured list as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in October. He will miss the entirety of the 2026 season.
