Verrazano-Narrows Bridge: photos from the construction

Construction of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, overseen by Robert Moses, began in 1959. It was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it opened in November 1964. The span was named after Giovanni da Verrazano, the first European explorer to sail into New York Harbor.
