Have you had an ‘Oxtail Mac Patty’ yet?

Datz Deli has only been open for seven months but is already making a name for itself in Hollis, Queens.

“It’s definitely the Oxtail Mac Patty,” owner Joshua Dat said proudly about the most popular item on the menu. The sandwich combines beef patty, oxtail, cheese, & mac-n-cheese on a sweet coco bread. It doesn’t end there though – Datz serves fresh Caribbean-style food daily.

“Corned beef with white rice and spinach, for sure,” the Queens native replied, when asked what his favorite dish is. Long lines sometimes form out the door and flow down the street, now that the word is out about the food at the newly-famous deli.

When we asked Joshua what the best part of his neighborhood was, he simply stated, “It’s so diverse, so many amazing people, so many amazing stories, and it’s where I grew up too.”

At age 31, Joshua runs the family business but credits everything to his father. “My father inspired me to start. We didn’t have an easy life growing up. I wasn’t born into money, so saving and staying disciplined helped a lot. Also, keeping my eyes on the prize, knowing that missing out and not wasting my money would one day allow my family and me to get everything we want in life.”

You can try an Oxtail Mac Patty 7 days a week at Datz Deli, located 190-01 Hollis Ave, Queens, NY. Check their website for business hours.
