Detectives are looking for a gunman they say tried to murder a man on an East Harlem street in broad daylight last month.

According to police sources, the morning shooting unfolded at around 10:45 a.m. on April 29 along East 116th Street and Pleasant Avenue, with the confines of the 25th Precinct.

Cops say the victim, a 41-year-old man, got into a verbal dispute with the unidentified suspect. While authorities did not say exactly what sparked the argument, things spiraled out of control when the aggressor pulled out a handgun and fired a volley of shots.

While the victim was not struck, police say the incident could very well have ended with the death of either the intended target or a bystander.

Police described the gunman as being 55 to 65 years of age, medium build, wearing a blue sweater, black pants, black sneakers, and a black hat. He was seen on surveillance video pulling a cart carrying what appeared to be a laundry bag. He fled the scene.

No arrests have been made.
