The popular apparel retailer UNIQLO is opening three new stores across the city and launching a new partnership with the New York Public Library (NYPL).

The new UNIQLO stores will be opening in Bryant Park (510 5th Ave.) on March 6, in Williamsburg (187 Kent Ave.) on March 20, and in Union Square (860 Broadway) on April 3.

The new Bryant Park store will anchor the partnership with NYPL, with the store featuring exclusive NYPL-themed merchandise available for purchase, created by Japanese-born graphic designer Kei Saito. The store will also support NYPL’s The Library After Hours program, and in October, will further support the program through The Library After Hours: Teen Takeover.

The year-long partnership with NYPL specifically builds into Uniqlo’s ongoing commitment to fostering positivity in the communities the brand serves while reflecting on knowledge, creativity, and opportunity.

“We are proud to partner with The New York Public Library, whose mission to make knowledge and opportunity accessible to all deeply resonates with us,” said Fuminori Adachi, CEO of UNIQLO USA. “New York City has inspired UNIQLO since we opened our first store here twenty years ago, through its creativity, diversity, and strong sense of community. As one of the city’s most iconic cultural institutions, The New York Public Library helps sustain that spirit, and this partnership reflects our commitment to supporting the spaces that bring New Yorkers together.”

Exclusive finds in each store

Each store will also feature exclusive merchandise that can only be found in those stores as a part of UNIQLO’s UTme! program. In addition to the NYPL merch, the Bryant Park store will have products highlighting the MTA, inspired by the city’s transportation network, as well as merchandise designed by artist Lauren Martin, showcasing the humor and joy of everyday New York moments.

At the new Williamsburg store, shoppers will be able to find merchandise spotlighting two artists: KAWS, a Brooklyn contemporary artist (and UNIQLO’s first Artist in Residence) known for subverting pop culture through his art; and Hiroshi Masuda, a New York-based Japanese artist who explores what it means to be human. The Union Square store will sell merchandise highlighting The Andy Warhol Foundation and the popular bookstore The Strand.

Each store will also engage in the communities they call home through RE.UNIQLO, a program that centers on sustainability and giving back. Each store will have donation bins where customers can drop off gently-used UNIQLO clothing, which will then be donated to local nonprofit partners, including the Department of Homeless Services and Covenant House.
