Downtown Manhattan certainly has no shortage of bars. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for something of another caliber to be added into the night life scene. Enter The VNYL, a fresh, 70s-inspired East Village spot that opened Friday.

The VNYL, which stands for Vintage New York Lifestyle, is owned by James Morrissey, an Irish entrepreneur with another successful late night haunt under his belt (The Late Late on East Houston Street). Actor Adrian Grenier (of HBO “Entourage” fame) serves as its music director. It will be up to you to decide whether the main draw is the space’s four-floor layout or the ambitious cocktail and small plates menus.
