Legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman marked his 80th birthday with a special performance of In the Fiddler’s House at the Beacon Theatre on Monday, September 29.

The celebrated concert reunited Perlman with world-renowned klezmer musicians including Hankus Netsky, Andy Statman, and members of the Klezmatics, the Klezmer Conservatory Band, and Brave Old World. The performance also commemorated the 30th anniversary of the original In the Fiddler’s House album and PBS documentary, which introduced mainstream audiences to the rich tradition of Eastern European Jewish folk music.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since Fiddler’s House was first released,” Perlman said ahead of the concert. “This project has meant so much to me—sharing music that’s deeply personal, with incredible friends and musicians.”

Widely regarded as one of the greatest living violinists, Perlman has performed with every major orchestra worldwide and earned numerous accolades including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, 16 Grammy Awards, four Emmy Awards, and a Kennedy Center Honor.
