“LIVE! With Kelly and Michael” host Michael Strahan is formally leaving that syndicated daytime talk show to appear full time on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where he has been a twice-weekly guest host since 2014.
“It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience,” Strahan, 44, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. He called his time on the show he co-hosts with Kelly Ripa “transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet. Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team. I am extremely grateful for the amazing support I’ve received from all of the fans.”
He joined “LIVE!” four years ago and likely will depart this summer, the magazine said.
The NFL Hall of Famer, who spent his entire 15-year career as a defensive end with the New York Giants and retired after the 2007 season, also is scheduled to host ABC’s game-show revival this summer of “$100,000 Pyramid.”
Neither Strahan nor Ripa has commented on social media.
