Oscar-winner Whoopi Goldberg is joining the ranks of celebrities founding medical-marijuana companies, Newsday contributor Frank Lovece reports.
The actress and co-host of “The View” told USA Today on Thursday that products from the Whoopi & Maya brand will be available within weeks in at least five California dispensaries.
“I want to go nice and slow with this,” Goldberg, 60, told USA Today. “I don’t want this to be a joke to people. It’s not a joke to women.”
Company co-founder Maya Elisabeth helped found Om Edibles, a California edible-marijuana products cooperative.
“This is a nice quiet way that I can be part of this,” Goldberg said. “It had to help people if I were going to be involved.”
