Mayoral candidate Andrew Yang was hospitalized Friday morning with an apparent kidney stone, his campaign announced.

One of the front-runners in the Democratic mayoral primary race, Yang wound up at an emergency room on the morning of April 2 after experiencing abdominal pain. He remains hospitalized at the moment, with his wife Evelyn at his side.

“His public events for the day are cancelled, but he looks forward to getting back out on the trail in the days ahead,” the campaign said in a statement.

Yang had been scheduled to hold a press conference Friday afternoon to announce his plan to revive live performances in New York City in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s the second time in the campaign that a health issue forced Yang to take a pause. In February, he tested positive for COVID-19 after experiencing mild symptoms.
