Detectives search for suspects connected to murder in East Harlem (UPDATED)

As many as four suspects are being sought in connection with a deadly shooting in East Harlem on Wednesday night, police reported.

Cops said a man in his 40s, believed to be a New York City resident, was gunned down along East 116th Street between Second and Third Avenues at about 6:31 p.m. on Feb. 12.

Officers from the 25th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about an assault, found 43-year-old Purell Gowie unconscious in front of a nearby restaurant with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Paramedics rushed Gowie to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

A source familiar with the investigation said that detectives are looking for up to four men who were seen near in the vicinity of the shooting. No further details were provided.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
