Police have “located” a key suspect in the stabbing death of Barnard freshman, Tessa Majors, 18, earlier this month, according to Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison.

Harrison tweeted the latest update on the case Thursday morning, but the NYPD has remained tight-lipped on further details. A department spokesperson was reluctant to offer any additional information apart from a reiteration that the investigation is ongoing.

Potential charges and the individual’s name have not been disclosed.

With at least two suspects in custody already following the Dec. 11 killing Majors within the confines of Morningside Park near 116th Street and Morningside Drive, NYPD believed the individual was the final one of three who are believed to be involved in the crime.

Majors was stabbed multiple times before ascending multiple sets of stairs in the park and collapsing by a guard shack for the Columbia University.

The guard, who was away on patrol, found Majors. She was taken to a hospital where she died.

According to police following the initial arrests, a 13-year-old was held in custody while a 14-year-old was released.

A vigil for Majors in the park where she met her end drew up to a thousand mourners who felt double the pain of not only the death of Majors in their community, but her demise at the hands of middle schoolers.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
