A Bronx man was stabbed to death during an apparent dispute early Sunday morning in the NYPD’s first reported homicide of 2023.
Police said the New Year’s Day murder happened just before 4 a.m. on Jan. 1 outside an apartment building at 1335 College Ave. in Mount Eden.
Based on a preliminary investigation, detectives determined that the murder victim, a 63-year-old man accompanied by a 38-year-old woman, got into a dispute with an unidentified suspect at the location. The reasons for the argument were not disclosed.
The words turned violent, cops said, when the perpetrator stabbed the male victim in the chest and the woman in the torso.
Both victims were taken by private means to BronxCare Health System’s emergency room. Officers from the 44th Precinct were contacted, and responded there after receiving a 911 call about the incident.
Police said the 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later, while the 38-year-old woman was listed in stable condition.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
