A Queens man was arrested in connection to the death of a Bronx man who was shot in his apartment on New Year’s Day.

On Jan. 14, police arrested 34-year-old Ryan Chambers at his home on Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with murder.

Police say that at 10:29 a.m. on Jan. 1, the NYPD responded to a 911 call of an aided man within the Bronx River Houses on East 174th Street near Stratford Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found 29-year-old Rahkeem Jennings with gunshot wounds in his neck and head.

EMS declared Jennings dead at the scene.

At this time, it is not clear if Chambers and Jennings knew each other beforehand or what the motive behind the shooting was.
