Brooklyn rapper dies in a hail of bullets during Mother’s Day slay

 

The homicide was one of two in the borough on Mother’s Day, police officials say.

 

Police say Nickalus Thompson of Lenox Road in East Flatbush was shot and killed by an unknown gunman in front of 200 Winthrop St., near Rogers Avenue, at about 9:30 p.m. on May 10.

 

Thompson, also known as ‘Nick Blixky’ was about to debut a catalog of new music entitled, “Different Timin,” to be released on June 3.

 

 

Cops from the 71st Precinct found Thompson with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and buttocks. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital unconscious and unresponsive and was pronounced dead on arrival, officials said.

 

Investigators found seven spent shells on the ground where Thompson was killed and a blown out window at the door of the location. Police were going through nearby security video to get clues to the killer. The crime scene was still marked off this morning.

 

Thompson has a previous catalog entitled, “Change Gears,” in which he talks about life on the city streets and his relationships.

Fans have already been showing their grief with one admirer saying on his Instagram account,  “One of the realist and most loyal homies I got id never forget you bro & imma miss you can’t stop thinking bout all the shit we been through and how far we came I wish I was there to save you.”

 

Admirers and neighbors visited the site where he was shot and shook their heads in disbelief.

 

“He was a hell of a rapper,” said Junior Ortiz, a friend who said Thompson worked with rapper 22G’s. “He was very lyrical, he spoke about life and stuff like that and everything that happens. Everything he’s been through whether people went through a happy moment, he’d rap about it. Everything was about life, and was hard to do and he had a lot of followers.”

 

Ortiz said Thompson was a “family guys” and cared about his mother and always stayed positive. As for who would do this, he said, “I don’t konw man, now-a-days everything is about hate –  little argument can turn into something like this.”

 

Residents said the shooting was unusual because the neighborhood had “gentrified.”

 

“It’s true, there hasn’t been anything like this in a long time,” said Sharlene, walking with her 2-year-old child in a carriage. “It’s been quiet due to gentrification and to me, I saw some positive things and it’s nice. We don’t have to go to Manhattan for a nice restaurant – of course we cant do that now. With Covid, I’m worried about the summer and this happening. you have the kids around, and we are still getting shootings.”

 

In an unrelated case, a 41-year-old man was found stabbed to death in a Brighton Beach home early Sunday morning.

 

The victim, not yet identified by police was found dead inside 3064 Brighton 3rd St. by police from the 60th Precinct. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical technicians.

 

Police later arrested Pavel Orgaev, 56 of 184 Brighton 10 Street, and charged him with the murder and criminal contempt. The relationship between the two was not immediately revealed.

 

However, police say the suspect had an order of protection against him in this apparent ongoing dispute.
