The NYPD is looking for a thief who robbed an 11-year-old boy in Brooklyn last week and then attacked him when the boy tried to stop him.
Authorities say that at 6:40 a.m. on Feb. 6, the boy was in the vicinity of 5th Avenue and 50th Street when an unknown man approached him and forcibly took his cellphone from his hands. When the boy tried to chase after the suspect, he hit the boy in the head with a cane.
The suspect then fled the scene northbound on 4th Avenue.
On Feb. 9, the NYPD released video of the suspect taken from the scene:
He is described as a light-skinned man who was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater, a blue and black jacket, blue jeans, black and red sneakers and he walked with a dark colored cane.
