The FDNY is investigating the cause of a fire that claimed an 11-year-old girl’s life on Monday night.
Authorities say that at 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, NYPD and FDNY personnel responded to a 911 call regarding a fire at 761 Ocean Parkway. Once the fire was out, officers found 11-year-old Shirr Teved inside the home, unconscious and unresponsive.
EMS rushed Teved — who suffered from smoke inhalation — to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The Medical Examiner will determine her cause of death.
At this time, the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature, however the cause is being investigated by the NYC Fire Marshal.
This fire was the latest to break out on Monday. Three fatal fires in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens ignited on Monday morning, two of which have been ruled homicides, while another non-fatal fire broke out in the afternoon and ripped through several houses on Staten Island.
