A man in East Harlem was shot and wounded following a dispute on Saturday morning, police reported.
Law enforcement sources said the shooting occurred at about 7 a.m. on Oct. 14 at the corner of East 126th Street and 2nd Avenue.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police reported that the victim, a 37-year-old man, had been involved in a dispute with another man. The reasons behind the argument were not immediately known, police sources said.
The dispute came to a painful end, authorities said, when the other man pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the victim in the left thigh. Following the shooting, police reported, the perpetrator hopped into a blue sedan that fled along East 125th Street.
Officers from the 25th Precinct responded to the shooting. EMS rushed the victim to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The 25th Precinct reported a slight decrease in shootings year-to-date through Oct. 8, according to the most recent CompStat report, with 25 such incidents in 2023, down by two from the same point last year.
So far, no arrests have been made in Saturday’s shooting, police said.
