Cops are looking for the assailant who brutally assaulted a 39-year-old man during a robbery attempt in Greenwich Village earlier this month.
The NYPD released on June 25 a photo and video footage of the suspect connected to the June 3 attack, which occurred at 3:50 p.m. along 6th Avenue near West 11th Street.
Law enforcement sources said the victim sat inside a parked vehicle when the perpetrator approached and demanded that he exit. Seconds later, he opened the driver’s side door, grabbed the victim’s sweater, and went on the attack.
Police said the assailant used a firearm, believed to be a BB gun, to strike the victim multiple times in the face, shoulder, and hand. The suspect fled moments later on foot northbound on 6th Avenue without any property.
Officers from the 6th Precinct and EMS responded to the incident. Paramedics brought the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The video shows the attacker walking through the area. Police did not provide a physical description. He’s shown wearing a black surgical mask, a dark-colored jacket over a white t-shirt, black jeans, and black shoes.
