Man dies of injuries after being hit by a bus in Queens: NYPD

A man died of his injuries after he jumped in front of a moving bus in Queens on Sunday.

Police say that at 6:21 p.m. on March 1, officers from the 104th Precinct responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at Myrtle Avenue and 85th Street in Glendale. Upon their arrival, officers found a 35-year-old male pedestrian lying in the roadway, unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma throughout his body.

An investigation found that a Q55 MTA bus, operated by a 32-year-old man, was driving westbound on Myrtle Avenue when the victim jumped in front of the bus as it was crossing the intersection at 85th Street. After he was hit by the bus, the victim came to rest in the eastbound traffic lane.

EMS rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The bus driver remained at the scene following the incident. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
