Rabbi Dan Ain, above, rabbi in residence at the 92Y Tribeca, led a Seder service for more than 100 on Tues., April 19, the second night of Passover, at the Hudson and Canal Sts. center. Participants of all ages, most of whom found out about the Seder from the Internet, worked their way through the four glasses of wine (Seder requirements). One woman enthused, “This is much better than the one I went to last night on the Upper East Side,” remarking on how lively the service was. There was some discussion, and much explanation, audience participation encouraged. Diners read aloud from the Haggadah, a complete yet simple version of the Exodus. Emphasizing how the eating of matzo is required and is part of “what makes this night different” (an answer to one of the “four questions”), Rabbi Dan held up the special shmura matzo, hand-rolled, round and baked — precisely timed — to a very crispy texture.
