A Net gain for kids

BRetired New Jersey Net Darryl Dawkins, a.k.a. “Chocolate Thunder” during his pro career, playfully blocked a youngster’s shot in the I.S. 131 Hester St. playground recently. Dawkins also refrained from shattering any backboards, one of his trademarks. The Nets’ Josh Boone also attended the event, which was to promote the city’s summer meals program, and was sponsored by the American Dairy Association, the Dairy Council and the Nets.
