Century Market, a new food market that opened in May at Sixth Ave. and 13th St., has been borrowing business plans from the nearby Garden of Eden gourmet food store on 14th St. over the last several months, according to Garden of Eden.
Garden of Eden owner Mike Coskin said Century Market recently advertised in a free local newspaper as a new market from the co-founder of Garden of Eden and copied Garden of Eden’s logo. Coskin denied any business connection to Century Market, and said the issue is currently under review. “They are Chinese, we are Turkish, how can there be a relation?” Coskin said. The Villager’s calls to Century Market regarding the issue were not returned.
Meanwhile, the W. 13th St. 11 Block Assn. reports in their Gazette, “What a relief!… We’ve now got the Century Market where Burger King was, and after 7 p.m. the sushi is half-price. What a great store to have on the block.”
