Benefit for kids of Sixth sergeant

The Sixth Precinct and the Carmine St. Block Association are sponsoring “A Rally for Ned’s Girls” on Monday night April 28 at Galway Hooker, 7 E. 36th St., a benefit for the four young daughters of Sergeant Ned Thompson, the Sixth Precinct officer who died of lung cancer on March 9.

Thompson, who led the Village Precinct’s Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the Washington Square Park detail for many years, was a first responder to the World Trade Center attack and spent several days on the bucket brigade and searching for survivors. He leaves his wife, Justine, and daughters, Jacqueline, 8, twins Emily and Madison, 5, and Abigail, 2.

Tickets to the April 28 event, featuring music, an open bar and food, are $40 and may be purchased at the door. For more information and reservations phone Officer Maloney at 212-741-4828.
