A man arrested following a police-involved shooting in Brooklyn earlier this week has been charged, police said.

Zaquan Footman, 23, was shot in the hand by police on Tuesday after apparently pulling a gun on plainclothes cops, police said.

The incident began when the sergeant and three officers had located 20-year-old Dontre Bradley, who had a low-level warrant out for his arrest, at around 3:45 p.m. on Sands Street near the Farragut Houses. But they got more than they bargained for when Footman, who was with Bradley at the time, allegedly pulled a gun.

That’s when the sergeant and two of the officers, all anti-crime officers from the 84th Precinct, fired at Footman, striking his left hand, said NYPD Assistant Chief Jeffrey Maddrey.

The two men both fled and police gave chase. Footman was found inside an apartment in a nearby building on Nassau Street and taken to Kings County Hospital, police said.

Police said it did not appear that Footman shot at the officers during the incident.

“As of right now everything looks like it was appropriate,” Maddrey said on Tuesday.

Bradley was also arrested on Tuesday, police said.

On Wednesday, police charged Footman with criminal possession of a loaded firearm and menacing with a weapon. Charges for Bradley are pending, police said.
