Television host, comedian, and writer Ellen DeGeneres guest-curates the 14th edition of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum’s “Selects” series, featuring prominent designers, artists, and architects invited to mine and interpret the museum’s collection of more than 210,000 objects.
Through 50 objects, the installation offers an intimate look into DeGeneres’ eclectic design aesthetic, with a strong focus on midcentury modernism, but also including an ancient Egyptian votive box, a Peruvian earthenware vessel, a 1935 drawing by Christina Malman, and a late 19th-century music box, as well as a few objects from her private collection.
