A man was charged with manslaughter after allegedly bashing an Uber driver’s head with a hockey stick just before the driver died in a Chelsea crash, police said.
Kohji Kosugi, 39, of the East Village, told police that 68-year-old driver Randolph Tolk almost hit him at 11th Avenue and West 20th Street just before midnight Saturday.
Kosugi then hit Tolk’s car with a hockey stick, and when Tolk got out to confront him, Kosugi struck Tolk in the head with the stick, police said.
Tolk took off southbound on 11th Avenue and crashed into the median on West Street at the intersection of Horatio Street, authorities said.
Tolk was taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Kosugi fled the scene on foot, but was later arrested.
