Bob Schieffer, whose 52 years at the top of broadcast journalism put him in a rarefied league along with Walter Cronkite, Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, and Peter Jennings, left his post as host of CBS’ Sunday morning offering “Face the Nation” this past May.
