Look no farther than the Village for your Halloween fun:
On Sat., Oct. 25, from 12 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Village Alliance and the Jefferson Market Garden invite preschool children to its Eighth Annual Urban Pumpkin Field at Jefferson Market Garden on Greenwich Ave. between W. Ninth and 10th Sts. Across from the garden at the Ruth Wittenberg Triangle, children 5 and older will be able to paint their own jack-o-lanterns. The event is free of charge.
On Fri., Oct. 31, New York University and Community Board 2 will hold the 13th Annual Children’s Halloween Parade from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. around Washington Sq. Park. Participants will gather on the sidewalk by the Washington Sq. Arch at 3:00 p.m. The Pipes and Drums of N.Y.U. will lead everyone around the park and then into the park for candy and treats. All adults must be accompanied by a child — children ages 3 through 12 can participate.
Also on Fri., Oct. 31, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., there will be a children’s Halloween costume parade in Hudson River Park. The event will start at Pier Park & Playground’s picnic house at the end of Pier 40’s southern walkway. A musical band will then lead the children along the scenic waterfront walkway. A reception with live music and refreshments will be held afterwards.
On Fri., Oct. 31, the annual Greenwich Village Halloween Parade turns 30 with a celebration themed after the prank-loving Trickster. For the first time ever, the parade will feature a grand marshal: the “horticultural horror” Audrey II from the Broadway revival of “Little Shop of Horrors.” Only costumed participants will be allowed to march in the parade. Marchers will gather between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sixth Ave. between Spring and Broome Sts. The parade starts at 7:00 p.m. and proceeds up Sixth Ave. to 23rd St.
