Friday night police were out in force on Avenue A. A command post — similar to the one parked outside Le Souk on Fri. Dec. 2 during an Avenue B police blitz — was parked across from Doc Holliday’s bar, where a patron was recently assaulted with a cast-iron table. After being warned to move along, some homeless people were ticketed for blocking the sidewalk, including a man, holding his ticket, above, who claimed innocence. Police towed some cars, such as one at a St. Mark’s Pl. bus stop, at right. Officers were seen entering Niagara bar twice, as well as Odessa bar, to inspect permits and licenses. Taxis were also ticketed for moving violations.
