Have a Yippie Christmas

The Knitting Factory at 74 Leonard St. will host a “Yippie Christmas Party” on Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. On the program will be Yippie movement founder Dana Beal of Bleecker St.; folk singer David Peel; Robert Altman, the Rolling Stone photographer, who will talk about photographing the stars and movements of the 1960s; A.J. Webberman, founder of “garbology,” who stole Richard Nixon’s and Bob Dylan’s garbage; East Village/Tompkins Sq. Park activist Jerry the Peddler; and Gringo Loco deejaying. The event is an early kickoff for planning for the Republican National Convention protest in New York City in August. Donations accepted at the door; proceeds will go to the AIDS Brigade’s John Parker, a Yippie who is suffering from AIDS.
