Soon the foundation for the new building at 51 Astor Place, being constructed by Minskoff Equities, will be completed and the stories will start to rise. Located on the former site of The Cooper’s Union Engineering Building, the new 400,000-square-foot edifice will be primarily for office tenants, possibly also with space for Cooper Union. The developer is angling for the angular-shaped building to be completed in early 2013. Minskoff signed a long-term $97 million ground lease with Cooper for the site.
