Teenagers played “America’s Army,” the official U.S. Army video game, at a May 30 promotional event of the game at Web2zon, an Internet cafe, at 54 Cooper Sq. Appealing to teens through one of their favorite activities, the video game is the Army’s newest advertising and recruitment tool. Game scenarios attempt to give participants a firsthand feeling of what it’s like to go on different missions, like, for example, retrieving a biological agent in a dessert-like environment. About 70 people turned out for the event, mostly teenagers, which also featured free pizza. According to a witness, the recruiters didn’t succeed in signing anyone up.
