Trump’s July 4th spectacle: Photos from the D.C. celebrations

President Donald Trump celebrated the Fourth of July with tanks, a military flyover that featured Air Force One, a speech about patriotism and fireworks as part of his “A Salute to America” festivities in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

“Our nation is stronger today than it ever was before. It is its strongest now,” Trump said from a platform, steps from the famous memorial.

Critics of the celebration, meanwhile, expressed concerns over the show of military might and what they said was an attempt to politicize an important American holiday — all at the taxpayer’s expense.

Thousands of supporters and protesters poured into the U.S. capital Thursday despite scorching temperatures and rain, while a diapered Baby Trump balloon sat next to a banner calling the president a traitor.
