Police are probing a deadly Brooklyn stabbing over the weekend and searching for a man they believe to be responsible.

According to police sources, a 33-year-old man was the target of a brutal attack just before 3:30 p.m. on June 21 along Livonia Avenue and Cleveland Street in East New York, where the victim was approached by an unknown man and stabbed in the torso.

Severely wounded, he was rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he could not be saved and was pronounced dead. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification. The incident was reported to the 75th Precinct.

Law enforcement sources report the victim was targeted due to an altercation he had with the perpetrator earlier that day. While police did not report what the argument stemmed from, they say he returned with a knife and stabbed the victim to death. A knife has been recovered by police.

Police sources report that they are hot on the suspect’s trail and are working to track him down. However, no arrests have been made yet, and the investigation remains ongoing.
